Show Archive - February/March 2001Main Stage:"Broadway Bound"Written by Neil Simon |
"Braodway Bound" is a funny, often touching portrayal of the Jerome family in 1949 Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. The play centers around Eugene and Stanley, the family's sons, two budding comedy writers attempting to break into show business. |     |
|     |
The boys' attempts are oftentimes interrupted by the dysfunction of their family, which includes their supportive and sacrificing mother, and their maternal grandfather, a socialist who despises wealth. |
Their wandering father is leading his marriage to their mother to the brink of collapse. |     |
|     | Rounding out the cast is Eugene and Stanley's Aunt Blanche who, much to their grandfather's chagrin, is somewhat wealthy. |
| In the traditional Simon style, Broadway Bound invites us to face adversity while smiling through the pain life can sometimes place in our path. |
